Full show notes:

Overview of Imaginative Intuition

An Extraverted function: deals with the outer world

A Perceiving function: deals with how we take in information

Imaginative Intuition users take in information by: Looking for future possibilities, theories and potentialities, to imagine solutions and scenarios that are way outside of the box.

Some aspects of Imaginative Intuition:

  • Cross-Contextual Thinking: Their world is a spider web of ideas and interconnected meanings – and they can hold multiple perspectives and ideas in their head at once – if you’re talking about one thing – they’re likely to bring it around to something that seems totally off topic but for them it’s a natural jump
  • Exploration: Personality Hacker actually uses the nickname “Exploration” for this function and there is definitely a tendency to want to explore their world and explore new ideas.
  • Brainstorming: Dario Nardi calls it “Excited Brainstorming” and people who use this function are good at coming up with lots of ideas – throw things at the wall and see what sticks – nothing is too out-of-the-box to at least consider
  • Boundary pushing: They are excited by new ways of doing things, and they love to change up a situation just for the sake of exploring and trying out a new path – existing rules and structures bear little importance

Potential struggles for Imaginative Intuition users:

  • Overvaluing coincidences or signs
  • Ideas that may not be grounded in reality
  • Neglecting their physical needs or other practical needs
  • Prone to boredom

What’s the parenting style:

  • Fun, energetic & spontaneous
  • Less concerned with rules, routines and schedules
  • Provide lots of opportunities for kids to explore their interests
  • Not flustered by the busy and unpredictable nature of parenting.
  • Struggle with the day to day details and keeping everything straight
  • Potential inconsistency with discipline

Leave a comment: Are you someone who uses this function or do you parent with someone who does? What does it look like for you?
