Full show notes:

Sandra introduces Caitlin, an INFJ mom of 3 boys. She is married to Bob who has INFP preferences. They have three sons who have ENFP, ESTP and ENTJ preferences, respectively.

Caitlin tells Sandra about:

  • During the pandemic she was looking for ways to get to know each other better, and learning each others’ Myers-Briggs types fit the bill
  • Understanding that her INFP husband uses his feeling differently than she does as an INFJ gave light to the different ways they go about things
  • Learning that her ESTP son is more comfortable in the present moment is helpful because during moments of stress she now knows to stop herself from talking big picture and future perspectives to instead talking about concrete things that are happening in the current moment
  • Understanding that her two teenage boys use Thinking for decision making and that she and her husband use Feeling has helped her be more tolerant of their differences and stay away from emotional language, especially when dealing with her ENTJ son
  • They made personalized placemats for each person in the family with their Myers-Briggs dynamics so that they are reminded of it when they are sitting at the dinner table
  • Understanding her kids’ most comfortable ways of functioning has helped her hold space for that so that they can be more well-resourced
  • One of the big things they got from the process is a shared language to decrease tension by understanding what’s going on and being able to name it
  • Take your vitamin D!
