Sandra introduces Meredith Atwood, a former attorney, author, podcaster, speaker, 4x IRONMAN triathlete, coach and an Enneagram Eight parent.

Meredith shares with us about:

  • Being 250 pounds and deciding to run a triathlon – and ultimately writing a book for other women who want to do the same
  • Her previous issues with drinking and now being almost 5 years sober
  • She learned how to get out of her own way as an Enneagram Eight – and the book she wrote about how get rid of the nonsense in your life
  • She enjoys her kids as tweens much more than when they were littler
  • She thinks Eights are perceived as the “worst” type by people
  • Through identifying her Enneagram type she has softened and become a better version of herself
  • The difficulty that comes with the loss of control in being a new Enneagram 8 parent
  • Her ability to teach her kids to stand up for themselves
    • No rules against cursing in her house
    • She believes the silencing of us as children causes disorders and struggle
  • She follows Dr. Shefali and her philosophy that are kids are our teachers
  • Her system of promises and consequences for herself to keep her show of anger toward her children in check
    • She pays everyone in the room anytime she yells
  • Her difference between her and her Enneagram 3 husband, and how she doesn’t put an emphasis on grades where he does
  • Her valuing kindness and looking out for those who aren’t always looked out for in society
  • How having no control at home as a kid made her have bully-like tendencies toward other kids
